Amethyst Therapy Book Club

A free virtual book club for anyone in BC who wants to spend a little time on their mental health — with good company and a very good book.

This fall, we're reading Burnout

Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski, PhD & Amelia Nagoski, DMA — the science-backed, surprisingly funny guide to why you're so exhausted and what your body actually needs. It answers the question we hear all the time: "I dealt with the problem… so why am I still so tired?"

It's short (about 7 hours on audio — less at your speed), it's practical, and you'll get something useful from every single chapter. Written especially with women in mind; everyone is welcome.

THE DETAILS (works well as a simple 4-item block or list)

How it works

📖 One short book, two get-togethers. No weekly commitment, no homework beyond the reading.

💻 Two Wednesday evenings on Zoom: September 16 & September 30, 7:00 pm Pacific.

🎙️ Hosted by Sheri Stahl, RCC — founder of Amethyst Therapy, and in this club, mostly just a fellow reader with opinions.

🆓 Completely free. Just bring the book — paper, e-book, audiobook, or library copy all count.

What it is (and isn't)

This is a real book club — snacks encouraged, tangents welcome. It is not group therapy: nobody analyzes you, nobody puts you on the spot, and no one will ever ask you to become a client. Cameras and microphones are completely optional — you're welcome to lurk in the dark with tea and just listen. And you don't need a diagnosis, a crisis, or any therapy history to belong here. Curiosity and a library card are the full entry requirements.

Save your spot

Spots are capped at 20 so the conversation stays a conversation. We'll email you everything you need — the details, the reading schedule, and your Zoom link before we start.
