Counselling in Williams Lake | Trauma, Anxiety & Sleep Therapy (CBT-I)
George Warr is a Registered Clinical Counsellor providing counselling in Williams Lake and virtual therapy across British Columbia. He supports individuals and families navigating trauma, anxiety, and sleep challenges, helping them build healthier, more sustainable ways of coping and living.
With over 16 years of connection to the Cariboo Chilcotin community, George brings a grounded and approachable presence to his work. Many of the people he supports are feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that are difficult to change, or struggling with sleep, stress, or the lasting effects of past experiences. George works collaboratively with clients to better understand what is happening beneath the surface and develop practical strategies that create meaningful change.
George has specialized training in Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy and Complex Trauma, offering a culturally sensitive approach that honours traditional practices and the importance of intergenerational healing. He is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
A key area of focus in Georgeβs practice is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), an evidence-based approach that helps people improve sleep without relying on medication. CBT-I is considered the gold standard treatment for chronic insomnia and can be especially helpful for those whose sleep is affected by stress, anxiety, or trauma. You can learn more about CBT-I and how it works in this article: What Is CBT-I?
George is currently offering a free live CBT-I webinar for those who want to better understand their sleep patterns and learn practical tools for improving sleep. Learn more and Save your spot here
In his work, George focuses on helping clients build resilience, reconnect with themselves, and develop tools they can use in everyday life. He often incorporates elements of nature, movement, and physical wellness into the therapeutic process, creating a grounded and practical approach to healing.
Outside of his counselling work, George enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, and exploring the backcountry around Williams Lake.
